Active Schools Program
Last week we restarted our School Sessions for 2026. We are proud to have a strong relationship with the East Ayrshire Active Schools program in partnership with SportScotland. This project gives young people in our community the opportunity to embrace a healthier lifestyle, regardless of their age, ability and background.
The aims of the project are to:
promote physical activity for all – children, young people and adults.
motivate and inspire healthy lifestyle choices.
integrate movement into daily routines through active travel, play, dance, and sport.
To play our part in the Active Schools program over the years we have run trial sessions for both primary and secondary school pupils. Using funding received from the project we pay for buses so that schools can visit our dojo to take part in a 2 hour introduction to Judo session. All of our coaches volunteer their time to make these sessions possible.
In 2025 alone we ran sessions for over 300 school pupils and grew our membership with new juniors from the school sessions joining our club sessions. We have run sessions for many local schools in and around kilmarnock including Loanhead, St Andrews, St Sofias, James Hamilton, Shortlees, Hurlford & Onthank Primary plus many more.
If you are a teacher who would like their school to make a visit to the club contact us at info@kilmarnockjudoclub.com and we can work with our Active School Coordinator to try to arrange a session for your class!
