National Playday 2026

Kay Park Playday Judo

Today we attended the National Playday at Kay Park—a good day out for some of our coaches and junior helpers and a great chance to introduce more local kids to our sport.

The National Playday is held every August in the Uk. Play is a part of children’s everyday life, and being involved in a sport can have a monumental impact on their happiness, health, and wellbeing. When children are supported to play in everyday spaces, it helps nurture positive outcomes and creates communities where children can thrive.

The morning started off very wet, but thankfully the weather cleared a little as the day went on. That meant we could welcome participants on to the mats to learn some basic techniques, a few throws, and some hold downs.

For us, events like this are all about sharing judo’s values helping to build confidence, respect, and keep you active. It was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm throughout the day with a few people having been inspired by the recent Commonwealth Games.

If you came along today, thank you—we hope you enjoyed the experience! And if you’d like to continue your judo journey, you can come to one of our regular club sessions. Send us a message via our social media pages or click the button below to arrange the first of your three free sessions. We hope to welcome you onto the mats again soon!
